 British actress and mum of two, Kate Winslet has always been celebrated for her curvalicious body since she shot to fame in Titanic, but now her curves are in question, or at least the lack of them.

Kate has posed for photos in the latest issue of Vanity Fair looking lean and very sexy, but British newspapers claim Kate is too skinny and the photos have clearly been re-touched.

The Sun newspaper says ”that magic airbrush has been at work again”, while The Daily Telegraph has brought in a professional airbrush artist to analyse the pictures for any evidence of tampering.

Winslet is said to be furious at the claim of airbrushing, her rep telling People “She is in terrific shape and what you see is how she looks or she would never have agreed to pose for those shots,” although Kate claims in the Vanity Fair spread that she still feels like “the fat kid.”

My point is this, who cares if the pictures were airbrushed, and why is everything in the media these days focused on the physical? My God if Kate Winslet is fat then I must be a hippo, because I take a size 12 which Hollywood would call morbidly obese but my doctor says is my perfect weight for height.

So when are we going to heed the words of our mothers when they told us “Beauty is only skin deep” and recognise beauty as something that comes from within regardless of the wrapping on the box. With anorexia and bulimia becoming commonplace amongst women and now men, isn’t it time we addressed how shallow we are becoming and accept that some of us are not a size zero and never will be and that’s okay.

Last time I checked being shallow makes a person really ugly and if I have a choice between ugly and fat, I’ll take fat because I can lose the fat, but ugly is something you’re stuck with for life.
